My name is Nazmul Islam, I am a Landscape, Wedding and Events phoographer based in London. My love of photography began in 2004 when I decided to go on a trek around Egypt documenting my travels and capturing landscapes and the colourful people that I encountered on my journey. My passion for photography has blossomed from there onwards and I have continued my journey to other genres of photography.
My love for nature has taken me to places like Bangladesh where I have documented work with NGO's on Tiger Conservation. I have also worked alongside local organisations in London, undertaken youth projects to teach the value of photography to aspiring young photographers in documenting their environment. This has earned me the prestigious award of The Documentary Photographer of the Year from The Royal Photographic Society in 2014.
Whilst capturing grand vistas through my Landscapes, this has furthered my wedding photography skills where I specialise in environmental portraits, combining the beauty of the location with the couple. To view more of my wedding photography please click on the Weddings gallery which will be coming soon.
With the ever-demanding growth of the photography industry, I also teach one to one classes, small intimate groups. My commercial clients have included online news media, magazines, local government and non-governmental organisations.
My Photography Gear
My camera bag is predominately made up of Canon gear. I have always used Canon as far as I can remember, from my early days of film point and shoot cameras, such as the Canon Sure shot to my first digital compact the Canon Ixus 50. My first DSLR was the Canon 400D with the 18-55mm kit lens back in 2006.
My prime camera is now the Canon Eos R5 however, most of my images were captured previously with the Canon 5D mark 3 and also the Canon Eos R. My lenses are predominantly made up of zoom lens as they are so versatile in the field. They include the Canon EF 16-35mm F4 IS, which is my favourite Landscape lens. The EF 24-70mm F2.8 mark 2, the RF 70-200mm F4 IS and the RF 100-400 F8, which make up the lens line up.
I still use filters in this digital age as I enjoy the process of having to take my time and trying to come as close as possible to the final visualised image. I have used the Lee filter 100mm system since the start of my landscape photography journey and found them to be the best for my needs. I carry all my gear in two bags, the Mindshift Gear Backlight 26L and a Shimoda Explorer V2 25L bag. Lastly, the final piece of gear which is also a must is a steady tripod, I use the Gitzo Mountaineer series 1.
