2022 was a quiet year for my photography, I managed to visit some of my favourite locations in the UK like Snowdonia, Anglesea, the Norfolk Coast and North Devon. Here are some of my favourite images from those locations. I hope that in 2023 I can visit a few more location espcially a few abroad. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed capturing them and I wish you all a happy new year.
1. Blackchurch Rock
This first image was taken in North Devon at Black Church Rock. It was a bit of struggle to get the classic shot at this location as the tide had come in and althoough I had captured the rock in the classic viewpoint with just one of the holes in the rock showing, I wanted to find an alternative composition, which was a bit difficult. I finally captured this image of the tide rolling in with the dark rocks in the foreground leading to Blackchurch Rock. I would love to visit this location again in the right conditions for me to capture the rock in all its grandure.
2. Twr Mawr Lighthouse
Anglesea on the North Coast of Wales is one of my favourite locations for Landscape photography, in particular Twr Mawr Lighthouse. This was my second visit to capture ths picturesque scene and the last time I capured the lighthouse with Orions Belt on the horizon (the image is availble in my galleryto view) . This location almost looks like a painting and I never get tierd of the amazing view. The image was captured just after the sun had set from one of the classic view points, I would love to capure the milky way above the lighthouse one day in the future.
3. Milky Way above Anglesea
This image was also captured in Anglesea but right aftter I captured the image of Twr Mawr lighthouse above. On the way to the car park I was walking through the pine forest behind the beach and noticed that the milky way was actually right above me. I stopped and decided to capure the image and used the pine trees as foreground interest with the Milky Way rising just behind the trees. It was a bit of luck as I was in the right place at the right time and managed to capture the shot.
4. Happisburgh Lighthouse
Happisburgh lighthouse is situated on the Norfolk Coast and this image was caputed during the spring. My intension was actually to caputre the super moon that was forecast to rise in the evening just behind the lighthouse. I had got to my location and after much planning awatied for the moon to rise. It was a spectacular view but with all the planning unfortunately the moon had lost itssigniture redness by the tiime it had risen behind the lighthouse. Although not quite the image I had hoped for, the moon did light up the lighthouse perfectly for this image. It just goes to show with all the planning sometimes things dont go to plan as a landscape photographer but the experience was beautiful one.
5. Llyn Mymbyr
Llyn Mymbyr is located in Snowdonia National Park. This was captured during the summer and it was my first location after a 6 hour drive from my home in London. I was truely blessed with some fantastic light and it was definetly worth the effort. After caputring a few images of the lake and the Snowdon Horse Shoe, which is a classic compositon in this area, I decided to try to find a different composition. I came across this rock on the banks of the lake and used my wide ange lens to exaggerate the foreground and waited for the the blue hour to capture the scene. As the light was fading I didnt think I would get anymore light apart from a slither in the distance above the Snowdon Horse Shoe. However for some unknown reason the was a single cloud just above the lake that was capuring the lst bit of golden light, it was truly magical sight and only lasted a minute or two, which I managed to caputre.
6. Clouds of Anglesea
This is another image from Anglesea in North Wales. I was a beautiful summers afternoon and I was heading towards Twr Mawr lighthouse along the beach. I looked around as you do as a curios photographer at the Llyn Peninsula across the sea to see if I could caputure an image of the moutains across the way and also to incorporate the wonderful low lying clouds. I spotted a person in the distance standing on the edge of the beach looking acrsss the sea and decide that it would be nice to have the person in the image to give the scene a sence of scale. The image capured the mood of this wonderful location and just the tranquility of the scenece made it specal for me and one of my favourite images.
